- Hi, my name is Dario Bilotta and this is a web site to endorse the idea that I have submitted to the Google's call “Project 10 to the 100th”, announced for its 10th birthday.
The aim is to publish the idea, so as to the voters have the possibility of choosing it: anyway, in my opinion, all the ideas deserve a vote and the Google's project is significant, beyond any evaluation on its marketing strategies. So I will be happy to update this Web site with the links (YT videos, Web pages, FB groups) to other ideas, to let them circulate as more as possible: if you have participated to the project, please send me your URLs by e-mail and I will publish them here. If you are FB users, follow the link below to the FB group to post there directly.
- Google Project 10 to the 100th
- About the Google Project 10 to the 100th, you can visit the web site for any other information you would like to have.
Here briefly, “Project 10 to the 100th is a call for ideas to change the world by helping as many people as possible”, for the longest time possible. The total submissions have been 100.000+ and the evaluation criteria was in the call's guidelines, including eight categories (Community, Opportunity, Energy and so on) to catalogue the ideas.
It works this way:
- among all the submitted ideas, 100 of them will be chosen by Google for a short list
- this short list will be voted by the Internet users by March, 27th, to choose 20 semi-finalists
- among these 20, 5 will be selected by an advisory board to be funded, totally, for 10 Million dollars.
Now, we are at step one: by March, 17th (delayed from the original date of January, 27th for overload of submissions) the 100 selected ideas list will be presented for the public voting.
Update to 25 September 2009
Google has presented 16 projects based on a synthesis of 154.000+ ideas. Now is possible to vote for one of these sixteen, till 8 October, following this link:

Therefore no specific idea has been selected, but the feedback has been amazing and enthusiastic!!!
Share the dreams, spread the world ;)
- The idea I submitted
-
Now I would like to present you my idea.
It is in the category "Energy: How can we help move the world toward safe, clean, inexpensive energy?" and is called "i-nrg.org".
The idea is to create a web marketplace for the Renewable Energy Sources (RES: photovoltaic, wind, biomasses etc.) power plants. In this web marketplace the owners of any energetically interesting site for a power plant (sunny roofs, windy fields and so on) can meet the technical suppliers of the power plants and the investors who want to fund the plants.

- Assumptions and models
- Many (always more) national or regional Governments provide incentives to endorse the development of renewable energies.
The energy market is rising up its need of power generation plants.
Technologies are, generally, mature enough to have a predictable pay off in the long term.
So, the funding of a RES power plant can be considered as a stable investment, with limited operational risks (the tasks to operate it are simple), an expanding market and incentives from the Governments.
The Web marketplace is targeted even for small/micro investments and small real estates, on the model of the social lending (boober or zopa, i.e.) and microcredit (kiva.org, i.e.) Web platforms.
- Benefits and feasibility
- With the Web marketplace enabling the development of RES power plants, small or large sized, there will be benefits for all the stakeholders:
- energy saving or money earning for the site owners (individuals, organizations, companies, municipalities);
- Better investment opportunities, with global rating and certification of the sites;
- Market boost for the suppliers in RES industry: professionals, companies, ESCO, utilities.
These RES power plants will contribute to reduce the CO2 emissions, with positive effects for the ecological footprint; furthermore, aggregating small users, the Web marketplace can contribute to enable a distributed generation.
Talking about feasibility, in my opinion if Google should develop such an idea, it could do it nimbly, as already owns large assets in digital cartography and satellite photography, and is a leader in data providing for power plants business plans.
